Information about La Cartuja Stadium

The Benito Villamarín Stadium, home of Real Betis Balompié since the 1930s, is one of the most iconic and beloved football grounds in Spain, located in the Heliópolis neighbourhood of Seville.

Originally opened in March 1929 and later renamed in honour of a club benefactor, the stadium has a current capacity of over 60,000 spectators, making it one of the largest in the country. In the summer of 2025,

Real Betis embarked on a major renovation project estimated at 70 million euros, beginning with the demolition of the main stand, and the club temporarily relocated its home matches to the Estadio La Cartuja, a grand multi-purpose venue on the outskirts of Seville.

The ambitious renovation, designed by the prestigious Spanish architectural firm Rafael de La-Hoz Arquitectos, aims to transform the Benito Villamarín into a modern, architecturally striking landmark that reflects the colours and identity of the club while offering fans a far more comfortable and sustainable matchday experience.

The works are expected to last over two years, with the club's planned return to their renovated home scheduled for October 2027.
